Sarah and Todd Palin After the American public challenged the Republican party to make major changes, Senator John McCain delivered with naming Sarah Palin as his pick as his running mate in the 2008 Presidential Election. The Early Years :
As a three month old infant, Sarah Palin's parents moved her and her family to Skagway, Alaska in 1964 to work in the local school system. Sarah's mom worked as a school secretary, while her father taught Science and coached track and field. After five years, the family set up residence and employment in Wasilla where the Sarah's parents finished raising her and her three siblings, Chuck, Heather, and Molly.

Continuing her father's love for sports, Sarah often joined her father moose hunting before school as well as competed in various local racing events. In high school, Palin lead the basketball team to a state championship in 1982. Her parents drilled into her and her three sibling a faith in God. This may explain her desire to inject polical forums with her own ethical ideas at the risk of losing her political footing.

Spreading Her Wings :
After earning a second place finish in the Miss Alaska Pageant, Sarah Palin received a college scholarship and the honor of "Miss Congeneality". In 1987, Sarah received a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Idaho majoring in Communications-Journalism and minoring in Political Science. Quickly spinning into her role as wife, Sarah Heath eloped with her hubsand and high school sweetheart, Todd Palin. Sarah kept busy as a sports reporter for KTUU-TV stationed in Anchorage, Alaska and assisting with her husband's commercial fishing business.

Sarah Palin's Political Career :
Quickly gravitating to position of leadership, Sarah Palin found herself as the head of the local PTA, then graduated to a seat on city council. After winning the mayoral seat in her hometown of Wassilla in 1996, she took the town by storm. Palin reduced her own salary, lowered taxes, and required the resignation of top town officials she felt were not following her plan for Wassilla.

Due to term limits, Palin moved up the ladder in state government serving on energy and gas conservation committees. In 2006, Palin made history as the being named the first female governor of the state of Alaska. In 2008, Senator McCain rocketed Palin into the national spotlight as his choice for running mate in the 2008 presidential election.

Parents :Orville Wayne Heath and Bessie Beatrice Coleman

Chuck Heath grew up in Hope, Idaho and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1956. Chuck Heath met his future bride while he was attending Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Wisconsin. The couple eventually settled in Sandlepoint, Idaho where Chuck Heath was a beloved school teacher. Wishing to be one with nature, Chuck moved his family to Alaska where he could actively fish and hunt caribou and moose. The family home is filled with Chuck's collections of pictures, fossils and moose antlers. A Christmas tree made of moose and caribou antlers decorates the front yard of the family home nestled in a cul-de-sac off the Palmer-Wasilla Highway. His stories of life in Alaska inspired many neighbors and student in Idaho to follow him to this amazing nature place.

The Iron Dog race extends 2000 miles across the Alaskan terrain driving snowmobiles at speeds reaching 100 mph with a partner for a duration of 6 to 7 days.
